TEANINICH

Teaninich is Gaelic for ‘the house on the moor’. The distillery was established, in 1817, by Captain Hugh Munro, who owned the Teaninich estate in Alness, in the Highlands. The malt is known for its fresh leafy and earthy aromas. The distillery uses a mash filter, not a mash tun, which is unqie in Scotland, bar at Inchdairnie.
The 1972 release was from the batch of the distillery’s last year of floor malting with peat sourced by the moor nearby. The whisky has a bergamot scent, alonsgide a pleasantly malty and rich vanilla taste.
