Household Edition of the works of Charles Dickens, a fine and complete set in the rare original parts, partially unopened. Published posthumously in July 1871, one year after Dickens’ death. This edition includes John Forster’s Life of Dickens. Cook, 42-44. Podeschi/Gimbel D66 (their copy incomplete).
101 parts, octavo. With engraved plates and numerous text illustrations by J. Mahoney, J. Barnard, H. K. Browne, and others, plus 2 new illustrations for each part (very clean). Original blue-green pictorial wrappers with advertisements on outside and inside of wrapper (lightly soiled, one part with repairs, some chipping). All in nine red half morocco custom cases with slipcases.
