the hood with moulded top above a fret-carved cornice, with ebonised spiral twist uprights to the sides, with ebony and satinwood line inlay to the trunk, with oyster veneer to the trunk door, conforming decoration to the plinth on bracket feet, the 10in. (25.5cm.) square brass dial with engraved borders, silvered chapter ring and centre elaborately engraved with flowers and branches, subsidiary seconds disc (lacks hand), date aperture, signed Geo Leicester Altrincham, gilt-brass cherub and coronet spandrels, the four pillar rack striking movement with anchor escapement -- 74¾in. (190cm.) high
