The D-shaped bréche D'Alep marble top with pierced heart-shaped three-quarter gallery above a frieze drawer and two hinged drawers, above two conforming undertiers, between stop-fluted turned uprights headed by beaded panels centred by ribbon-tied foliage, on tapering fluted feet and gilt sabots, stamped 'F.SCHEY', some mounts probably replaced

Lot Essay


Fidelys Schey, maître in 1777.

Fidelys Schey (d. 1788) worked from a shop in the rue Faubourg-Saint-Antoine in Paris with a saleroom next door which was run by his wife. He mainly produced mahogany and mahogany-veneered furniture. In 1786 he delivered several pieces of furniture, including two tables à jeux, to the château de Fontainebleau.
