THE MOVEMENT BY VERNEAUX, PARIS, LAST QUARTER 18TH CENTURY
Surmounted by an arched pediment decorated with hung garlands and two pinecone finials, flanked by fluted pilasters, on a flower-edged base and toupie feet, the white enamel dial with Roman hours and Arabic minutes, a beaded and leaf-cast bezel, pierced-gilt hands and signed 'Verneaux A PARIS', the twin-barrel movement with later Brocot escapement, countwheel strike to bell, the backplate signed 'Verneaux A Paris'
