A LOUIS XVI ORMOLU-MOUNTED TULIPWOOD AND FRUITWOOD MARQUETRY WORK TABLE A OUVRAGE BY CHRISTOPHE WOLFF, CIRCA 1775 The canted rectangular top with three-quarter pierced gallery inlaid with foliate marquetry, later inset with a later oval Sèvres porcelain plaque, the top hinged to reveal a silk-lined compartment and dressing-mirror flanked by panels depicting obelisks, enclosing a fitted compartment, above two drawers inlaid with a trophy emblematic of music and love, the sides inlaid with urns after Jean-Charles Delafosse, on cabriole legs with sabots, the angles with satyr-mask mounts, the undertier centred by an inlaid double heart, stamped 'C. WOLFF and JME' 29 ½ in. (73.5 cm.) high; 16 ½ in. (41 cm.) wide; 12 3/8 in. (31.6 cm.) deep
