Jupiter and Antiope

This figures in this painting are similar to those in a Rembrandt etching of the same subject, one impression sold last in 2023 (Christie's, London, 7 December 2023, lot 69). Although the compositions are inverted, both artists depict Antiope fluidly and at ease in her bed, with Jupiter lustfully and wistfully looking at her body.
