Les effigies commémoratives représentant non pas une maternité mais uniquement des femmes de haut rang demeurent d’une rareté notable au sein de la statuaire yombé. La noblesse du port, empreinte d’une prestance solennelle, alliée au réalisme du corps et au regard animé par des éclats de verre insérés dans les orbites, les pupilles finement indiquées et la bouche prognathe entrouverte sur des incisives limées, évoquent avec force l’esthétique singulière propre au style emblématique des Kongo-Yombé.
La beauté de l’ornementation corporelle - parures et scarifications courant sur la peau - tout comme la coiffe mpu, insigne réservé aux chefs, constituent autant de signes distinctifs attestant du rang éminent de la figure représentée. Cette sculpture, d’une réelle ancienneté, conçue pour perpétuer le souvenir d’une personnalité éminente, se distingue par la richesse de sa patine et la minutie avec laquelle l’artiste a su en ciseler chaque détail, dont le récipient tenu de la main gauche.

Commemorative effigies depicting women independently of maternal themes are notably rare within Yombe statuary. The dignified bearing, imbued with solemn poise, combined with the realistic portrayal of the body and the gaze enlivened by glass inlays set into the eye sockets, finely indicated pupils, and the prognathous mouth slightly open to reveal filed incisors, powerfully evoke the distinctive aesthetic characteristic of the emblematic Kongo-Yombe style.
The beauty of the bodily adornment - jewelry and scarifications adorning the skin - as well as the mpu headdress, an insignia reserved for chiefs, serve as distinguishing features attesting to the eminent rank of the figure represented. This sculpture, of considerable antiquity, conceived to perpetuate the memory of a prominent personality, is distinguished by the richness of its patina and the meticulousness with which the artist has chiseled each detail, including the vessel held in the left hand.
