A DATED TWELVE-PANEL COROMANDEL LACQUER 'BIRTHDAY' SCREEN
KANGXI PERIOD, DATED TO THE XINHAI YEAR, CORRESPONDING TO 1671
One side of the screen bears two inscriptions. One inscription expresses wishes for a happy eightieth birthday to Chen Hanchen, followed by the date, xinhai year of the Kangxi period, corresponding to 1671. The second inscription provides the names of relatives who likely commissioned the screen as a birthday gift.
