Lot Essay

The Imperial College concert on May 13th, 1966 was an important one for 1984 representing their debut performance as the support band for the lead guitarist Brian May's idol Jimi Hendrix. May admired Hendrix ..to such an extent that he was nicknamed "Brimi" - a combination of the two guitarists names...it goes without saying that [1984] were thrilled when backstage, they actually bumped into [Hendrix] as they filed past his dressing-room...Jimi enquired memorably, "Which way's the stage man?"... Thompson found this shirt in Hendrix's dressing room after the performance.
