Bound for King James II during his final exile in France. The exiled Stuart family remained at Saint Germain-en-Laye until 1713 when they were obliged by the Treaty of Utrecht to move to Bar-le-Duc in the Duchy of Lorraine. Many of their possessions, including much of James II's library, were given to the Scots College in Paris, where the brain of James II was interred. Cicognara 2765.

Two works in one, folio (333 × 219mm). I: Engraved frontispiece, three part titles and 92 plates (); II: Half-title, 24 engraved plates (first four leaves rather browned, light dampstains in upper margins). Contemporary red ?goatskin tooled in gold, triple fillet round sides, fleuron corner-piece dividing the outer from the inner two fillets, at center the arms of James II, gold-tooled turn-ins, edges gilt over marbling (split at head of upper hinge); red levant morocco case.
