Descrizione dettagliata lotto

Born into an aristocratic family, Olivia Wyndham moved within London’s artistic and social circles during the interwar years. Associated with Curtis Moffat at the M Studio (Fitzroy Square, 1925), she participated in the renewal of society portraiture, photographing, among others, her friend Cecil Beaton, who, like her, belonged to the celebrated “Bright Young Things.”
In 1929, she opened her own studio in Chelsea before relocating to New York in the early 1930s. There she lived in a ménage à trois with the African American actress Edna Lewis Thomas and her husband Lloyd Thomas, immersing herself in the creative vitality of the Harlem Renaissance.
