Lot Essay

It appears that no other similar vase of this form seems to have been published, however the lotus petal decoration found around the body is characteristic of early celadon wares. Compare to a Northern Dynasties celadon jar and cover decorated with carved lotus petals in the collection of the Cleveland Museum of Art, Gift of Donna and James Reid, 2017.16.
