Lot Essay

This Vajravarahi is distinguished by her Nepalese character evoked through her compact and modelled limbs, gently wrathful face, overt surface detailing, and copper undertones of the metal alloy. These features are also visible on another seventeenth century Nepalese Vajravarahi sold at Sotheby's, Paris, 11 June 2019, lot 59.
