Lot Essay

Inspired by the iconic Octa Réserve de Marche, the present wall clock faithfully reproduces the distinctive design language of one of F.P. Journe's most celebrated creations. Its elegant salmon-coloured dial, a signature hue closely associated with the manufacture's earliest wristwatches, is framed by a finely polished stainless steel case measuring an impressive 41 cm in diameter, creating a striking decorative object with an unmistakable F.P. Journe identity.

Although powered by a quartz movement, the clock preserves the visual codes of traditional high watchmaking. The reverse incorporates an electronic perpetual calendar display for date synchronisation, together with two independent battery compartments, one dedicated to the hours and minutes and the other to the subsidiary seconds display, reflecting the thoughtful engineering behind its design.

The present example was manufactured by Ruegg SA for F.P. Journe. Established in 1957, Ruegg has long specialised in the production of high-quality clocks and display pieces for some of the world's most prestigious watch manufactures. Intended primarily for presentation in authorised retailers' boutiques rather than public sale, examples such as the present clock are seldom encountered on the market.

Combining functional design with exceptional decorative appeal, the present wall clock is far more than a promotional display piece. It is a rare and highly attractive object that celebrates the aesthetic language of one of the most influential independent watchmakers of the modern era.
