In 2019, A. Lange & Söhne marked a significant milestone with the introduction of the Odysseus, the manufacture's first luxury sports watch. Representing a bold departure from Lange's traditionally classical designs, the model introduced an entirely new case and integrated bracelet while retaining unmistakable elements of the brand's identity, most notably its signature outsized date display. The result is a thoroughly contemporary sports watch that remains immediately recognisable as an A. Lange & Söhne creation.
The present timepiece is particularly appealing as it is offered single sealed, further enhancing its rarity and desirability. Its distinctive dark blue brass dial features a highly architectural arrangement, with the outsized date balanced by a large day display, both of which can be conveniently adjusted through the integrated pushers on either side of the case.
Powering the Odysseus is the specially developed automatic calibre L155.1, finished to the exceptional standards associated with the Glashütte manufacture. Visible through the sapphire crystal caseback, the movement features a hand-engraved balance bridge decorated with a distinctive stylised wave motif, replacing the traditional floral engraving found on many of Lange's other movements and subtly reflecting the sporting character of the model. Available exclusively through A. Lange & Söhne boutiques, the Odysseus quickly attracted the attention of collectors and became one of the manufacture's most sought-after contemporary models, resulting in considerable waiting lists.
