Unveiled in September 2019, the Little Lange 1 Moon Phase '25th Anniversary' represented the ninth instalment in A. Lange & Söhne's year-long celebration of a quarter-century of the Lange 1. Like each member of this highly exclusive commemorative series, it was made in only 25 examples, combining a white gold case with the blue and argenté colour scheme created especially for the anniversary.
Measuring 36.8 mm, the Little Lange 1 Moon Phase brings the unmistakable asymmetrical architecture of the Lange 1 into particularly elegant proportions. Its solid silver dial is finished in argenté and punctuated by deep blue typography, blued steel hands and the characteristic blue numerals of the outsize date. Particularly charming is the moon-phase display, whose white gold lunar disc is individually hand-engraved with stars, lending a distinctly artisanal character to the complication.
The watch is driven by the manually wound calibre L121.2, whose exceptional level of decoration can be admired through the sapphire crystal caseback. No fewer than nine different finishing techniques are employed across its components, encompassing traditional polishing, engraving and decorative treatments. The balance, fitted with eccentric poising weights and a freely oscillating Lange hairspring, operates at 21,600 semi-oscillations per hour beneath the hand-engraved balance cock. For the anniversary edition, the movement is distinguished further by blue-filled engraving, while the intermediate-wheel cock bears the collection's recurring emblem: a relief representation of the celebrated outsize date displaying '25'.
