Introduced in 2019, the SF90 Stradale marked a departure for Ferrari. Named in recognition of Scuderia Ferrari’s 90th anniversary, it was the marque’s first series-production plug-in hybrid, pairing a twin-turbocharged V-8 with three electric motors. Two drove the front wheels, providing all-wheel drive, while a third worked with the engine at the rear. Together they produced 1,000 PS, bringing hybrid technology into Ferrari’s regular model range with performance at the forefront of its purpose.
The SF90 Spider followed in 2020, carrying this powertrain into Ferrari’s first plug-in hybrid open-top car. Its retractable hardtop added open-air enjoyment to an already remarkable combination of acceleration and performance. Drivers could also select electric-only operation, illustrating the breadth of capability built into Ferrari’s hybrid flagship.
Ferrari took the concept further in June 2023 with the SF90 XX Stradale and SF90 XX Spider. Previously reserved for experimental, circuit-only cars supplied to selected clients, the XX designation now appeared on road-legal models. These combined lessons from the XX program with Ferrari’s established approach to special-series road cars. Production was limited to 799 Coupes and 599 Spiders, making the open version the rarer of the pair.
The XX Spider retained the SF90’s hybrid configuration, but revisions raised combined output to 1,030 PS. Its 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V-8 and electric motors delivered formidable performance: Ferrari quoted 0–100 km/h in 2.3 seconds, 0–200 km/h in 6.7 seconds, and a maximum speed of 320 km/h. An eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox and carbon ceramic brakes completed the specification.
Aerodynamic development was equally extensive. Revised front bodywork, underbody treatment, and a prominent fixed rear wing emphasized downforce and high-speed stability. Together, the SF90 XX models marked the return of a fixed rear wing to Ferrari’s production road cars for the first time since the F50. Ferrari also developed airflow around the Spider’s open cockpit, while retaining a hardtop that opened or closed in 14 seconds at speeds of up to 45 km/h.
The performance remained accessible. Testing the XX Stradale at Fiorano in November 2023, Car and Driver’s Mike Sutton described it as “Impressively mild tempered given its potential,” praising steering communication that was “clear and direct.” In Spider form, this technical development gained the additional appeal of open-air driving, giving the road-going XX concept a character distinct from its circuit-only predecessors.
According to the accompanying Ferrari Classiche Yellow Book, this SF90 XX Spider was completed in February 2025 and supplied to its current collector owner. This example was specified through Ferrari’s Hyper Club program, which was only available to 100 selected clients worldwide, as a tribute to the marque’s 2023 499P Le Mans winner. Finished in Rosso Le Mans 2023 (Le Mans Red) with contrasting Giallo (Yellow) racing livery and prominent no. 51 graphics, it was specified with an extensive selection of factory options. Giallo brake calipers and mirror caps complement the exterior detailing, while carbon fibre wheels, airbrushed Scuderia shields, and black exhaust tips further distinguish its appearance.
The personalization plaque records its Hyper Club configuration and numerous carbon fibre components, including the front spoiler, side air splitters, rear diffuser, engine covers, and rear wing. Carbon fibre also features throughout the cockpit, extending to the dashboard air vents, instrument cover, center console, rear shelf, and inner sill trim.
Inside, Nero Alcantara is accented by Giallo Modena (Modena Yellow) detailing and contrasting stitching, carrying the exterior theme into the cabin. The interior features ribbed racing seats, while a tricolore detail marks the upper rim of the steering wheel. Additional equipment includes a front-axle lift, adaptive headlights, front and rear parking cameras and sensors, a premium Hi-Fi system, and a fire extinguisher.
Displaying just 162 km at the time of cataloguing, and remaining under warranty until May 2028, this SF90 XX presents in virtually as-delivered condition. Accompanied by its Ferrari Classiche Yellow Book, this extensively optioned Spider combines a distinctive racing-inspired specification with exceptionally low mileage, offering an appealing opportunity to acquire one of Ferrari’s most focused open-top road cars.
