Descrizione dettagliata lotto
Louis Picasse was able to register his maker’s mark in 1745 by virtue of the training he had received at the Gobelins Manufactory, under the sponsorship of Michel-Robert Hallet, surintendant des Bâtiments at the Gobelins and orfèvre du Roi. Picasse was a prolific goldsmith who consistently submitted large quantities of gold for assay, as evidenced by the Registre de la Ferme Générale from 1750 onwards. In common with his contemporaries, such as Jean Ducrollay, Picasse also worked with alternatives materials such as lacquer in response to the taste of the time.
