A George III mahogany longcase clock
the hood with stiff-leaf carved pagoda top with turned finials above a swan-neck pediment with fret-carved cornices (some losses), outset stop-fluted columns, with three-quarterfluted pilasters flanking the arched trunk door, further blind-fret carving above and below, on block plinth with chamfered sides with conforming decoration and with quatrefoil panel, on bracket feet, the brass dial signed SAMUEL COLLIER ECCLES on a silvered ring above a painted rolling moon in the arch, scrolling foliate spandrels, the engraved silvered centre with seconds ring and date aperture, the four pillar rack striking movement with anchor escapement -- 92½in. (235cm.) high
