A 15-inch diameter terrestrial library globe, made up of twelve hand-coloured engraved paper gores, the oceans showing tracks of Captain Cook and Captain Gore in the Resolution, with an improved analemma, mountain ranges shown (old surface abrasions, cracking to the south pole and equator), with engraved brass hour circle and meridian ring, engraved in four quadrants, on a contemporary ebony-inlaid mahogany tripod stand, the baluster-turned legs united by shaped stretchers and compass with blued-steel needle, the compass card signed J. & W. Newton Chancery Lane London -- 24-inches (61cm.) high
