A military mounted katana with silk bound shagreen hilt, gilt bronze fuchi-kashira, menuki and lobed rectangular tsuba modelled in relief with flowerheads, green painted metal scabbard -- the blade 27¾in. (70.5cm) long, 17th Century, signed Kiyo Mitsu.With accompanying document relating to the provision of Japanese trophies, signed by Lt-Col. J.R.L.D.Brett, Comdt. 4th Bn. The Royal Garwhal Rifles, dated 31st Dec. 1945, framed.
