Lot Essay

Born in Paris in 1810, Richebourg came to be one of the early professionals in photography having learned it through his contact with the optician Vincent Chevalier, and Daguerre as a private student. In 1841 he opened his own studio at 69 Quai de l'Horloge and in 1851 the house number changed to 29. He had an extremely varied career ranging from portraiture and the recording of special events to nude photography.
