A deep bowl painted and gilt to the interior with a group of figures decending the steps before the main temple at Nikko flanked by stone lanterns and further buildings, tall pine trees visible through the roof tops in the background, the underside with Tokugawa mon on a ground of bands of scattered flowerheads, demi florets and geometric motifs -- 5¾in. (14.5cm.) diam, signed Takasaki Ryokuzan.
