Sir Frank Stanley Jackson (1870-1947) played in every one of the thirteen England v. Australia contests decided on English ground from 1896 to 1902. As an all rounder, he was a cornerstone of the Yorkshire XI, and when he captained England against Joe Darling's team in 1905 he had luck with the toss and achieved a decisive victory by 2 matches to nil. Ranjitsinhji said of Jackson: "How often have I admired his beautifully-timed cutting, his skillful backplay, and the masterly manner which he negotiates the deadliest of sticky wickets."
