A 3¾-inch (9.5cm.) diameter terrestrial pocket globe, made up of twelve hand coloured engraved paper gores, showing in outline the tracks of Captain Cook's voyages, also those of Perouse, Gore and Vancouver, Africa showing unknown parts, Cape Colony inscribed hottentots, Australia (New Holland) with little geographical information (some old surface abrasions and cracks), the steel axis pin locating in slots cut in the original fishskin-covered case, the interior lined with a celestial chart, with magnitude label and maker's label inscribed SMITH'S CELESTIAL GLOBE 1811
