Six similar pollaxes, all bearing the mark 'CB' are in the Royal Armouries (No.s VII.888-93). It has been suggested that they were used by Charles I's bodyguard, the Gentleman at Arms, during the English Civil War. See C.J. Ffoulkes, Inventory of the Armouries of the Tower of London, 1916, p. 239
