A Spanish Left-Hand Dagger
Late 17th Century
With tapering blade double-edged for half its length from the point changing to single-edged with an ornamentally notched back, broad ricasso with thumb recess on one face, similarly notched, pierced and decorated with punched dots, single sword-breaker bar, iron hilt with long straight slender quillons with turned ends, broad plate knuckle-guard with rounded arched top and turned edges, engraved externally with conventional foliage and with guardapolvo pierced and engraved with foliage, small spherical pommel, and wire-bound wooden grip
