An early Victorian satinwood four-glass striking mantel clock, mid 19th century
The case with bevelled glass panel to the stepped top, similar sides, on ebony bun feet, the arched silvered Roman dial signed James Cowan EDINBURGH within foliate scroll strapwork below the chapter ring with blued fleur-de-lis hands, the four pillar twin chain fusee movement with anchor escapement and strike on bell above, with pendulum holdfast to the backplate -- 11in. (28cm.) high
