signed on the body-tube Improved Compound Microscope, BY P. CARPENTER, 24, Regent Street, London, with rack and pinion focusing, sprung stage, concave mirror, the body-tube located on an arm from the tubular pillar, with compass joint and folding tripod stand, with lieberkuhn, six objectives (the objective numbered 3 lacking glass), various slides and other items, in fitted mahogany case -- 15 5/8in. (39.7cm.) wide; with the original maker's instruction booklet, illustrated with a fold-out plate, a manuscript list of the objects (bull's-eye condenser and live-box missing)
