A 19th-Century lacquered brass compound binocular and monocular microscope,
signed on the twin pillar "Y" shaped stand J.B. Dancer Optician Manchester, with rack and pinion focusing, fine screw adjustment, the binocular body-tubes engraved Registered June 27th. 1861 No 4380, with monocular body tube, substage condensor and plano-concave mirror, mechanical stage, two objectives, four eyepieces and other accessories, with maker's trade label in the original fitted mahogany case with brass carrying handle -- 16½in. (42cm.) high
