An unusual and well engineered early 20th Century model Woolf Compound centre pillar beam pumping engine with cylinders 1¼ and 1¾in. bores x 2½ and 3¾in. strokes, inward and outward facing centrally mounted valve chests with separate steam ways, the valve spindles with barrelled connecting rods and shaped crossheads, parallel motion with waisted links, hexagonal centre column, the trunnions with split bearings, rod driven floor mounted pump and pipe work, faceted fluted connecting rod with gibbed and cottered big end, waisted crank and spoked flywheel, the single eccentric rod driving both valves via rocking levers, finished in black and lacquer, with aluminium floor and wood display base -- 13 x 25in. (33 x 63.5cm)
