An unusual 7¼-inch gauge electric powered model of a BR Class 86 twin bogie electric locomotive ,
built by D. Birks, with ¾in. angle iron chassis, wood, metal and fibreglass body with removable roof panel with pantograph insulators and cable, the inside arranged to carry two 12v 60AH batteries connected in series giving 24v output to four 12v ¼h.p. electric motors driving the axles via toothed belts, the remote control box with instruments including volt and ammeters, speedometer, and switches for forward and reverse, two-tone horn, brake (electrically operated single disc), speed control and main on/off switch. The control box can be plugged in to either end of the locomotive, which is finished in blue, yellow and black -- 19 x 88in. (48.3 x 223.5cm.). Diagrams and data. See Illustration
