In 1822 Halzitt went to Italy with Byron, and there established the Liberal, but failed to make it a success. Included in the Liberal are first printings of Byron's "Vision of Judgement," "Heaven and Earth," "The Blues," and "A Letter to my Grandmother's Review," Shelley's verse translation of "May Day Night" from Goethe's Faust; Mary Shelley's "A Tale of the Passions" (I, 289), "Mme. d'Hontetot" (II, 183) and "Giovanni Villani" (II, 281); and Hazlitt's "My First Acquaintance with Poets."
