Early 17th Century
With slender steel bow and cord strings with iron spacers, two baluster fore-sight pillars, built-in gaffle (retaining pin defective) held by a catch at the rear (spring missing), iron trigger-guard of circular section, button-set trigger, and folding back-sight, the wooden butt covered with finely engraved white staghorn panels (one replaced) framing rectangular ebony panels, two of the latter inlaid with engraved white staghorn roundels, the cheek-piece inlaid with a circular mother-of-pearl plaque engraved with a coat-of-arms, the dark horn butt-plate covering a sprung button-operated magazine
