A WHITE JADE AND ZITAN GROUP

The zitan carved as an aged pine-tree springing up from a reticulated rockwork base with prunus, chrysanthemum and lingzhi carved to the surface, a white jade parrot perched on a branch dangles three jade coins from its beak, as a horned toad grasping a pomegranate sprig looks on from below, the parrot and toad finely and naturalistically carved from the well-matched translucent even white material with flecked cloudy inclusions, the coins carved later--12 3/4in. (32.5cm.) high
