Lot Essay

It it rare to find this design on a cup of this small size. A comparable cup was included in the exhibition, Qing Dynasty Painted Enamels, National Palace Museum, Taibei, 1979, pl. 40. Cf. another small cup of this pattern, but with deep rounded sides and a slightly everted rim, also with a Yongzheng yuzhi mark, in the collection of Gerald Reitlinger, is illustrated by Soame Jenyns, Later Chinese Porcelain, London, 1951, pl. XLV (1).
