A CHINESE-EXPORT BLACK AND GILT-LACQUER DRESSING-MIRROR
18th Century
Decorated overall with Chinese landscape scenes and foliage, the associated shaped arched reverse-painted mirror with a Chinese couple in a river landscape surrounded by birds, in a moulded frame between rectangular supports with turned finials, above a miniature bureau, the hinged slope enclosing five small drawers and three pigion-holes, above two short and one long drawer, the drawers with Chinese characters to the reverse, on later bracket feet
15 in. (38 cm.) wide; 23¼ in. (59 cm.) high; 10½ in. (26.5 cm.) deep
