Lot Essay

These bookcases are copies of two from a set of three George II bookcases in the library at Kelburn Castle, Ayrshire. The originals were probably removed from Sheralton House, Ayrshire, by the 7th Earl of Glasgow after 1886 (see: G. Jackson-Stops 'Kelburn Castle, Ayrshire', Country Life, 20 September 1990, pp. 136-139)
