The circular top centred with a recessed dish painted with a portrait of Louis XVI within a gilt-foliate border, signed L. Moreau, the ormolu framework cast in high-relief and inset with eighteen oval porcelain panels, sixteen showing the ladies of the court, with another oval of the King and opposite his Royal cypher, with a pierced frieze below, on an ebonised baluster support, with three scrolled ormolu mounts hung with foliate garlands, on triform base
