Designed by Jules Leleu, the tapestry designed by Gernez and manufactured by Pinton at Aubusson, circa 1950
Curved back, square section finely tapering legs, the padded seat and back with needlepoint upholstery with a design of a female nude framed by flowers
Impressed numbers 18442, 18445, 18448 and 18453; two chairs bearing the facsimile signature J.Leleu (4)

Lot Essay

Chairs to this design were incorporated into the interior of the Appartement de luxe "Versailles" on the ocean liner Ile de France in 1949, and were chosen by the French president René Coty for his office in the presidential train in 1954.
