Lot Essay

It is interesting to compare the pair of similar funerary vases which are dated 2nd year of Jiading (1209 AD); these were excavated in 1977 from a Southern Song tomb in Nanchangxian, are now in the Percival David Foundation and were illustrated in The Porcelain of Jingdezhen, Colloquies on Art and Archaeology in Asia, No.16, 1993, p.22, pl.13.
