Each with waved channelled toprail carved with a foliate spray the padded back, scrolled, channelled arms and seat covered in close-nailed contemporary Beauvais tapestry woven in wools and silks depicting a shepherdess and her companion in pastoral frames trailed with flowers on an ivory ground, the seats woven with stags and deer, above a waved foliate-carved channelled seat-rail and on foliate-headed channelled cabriole legs and acanthus scroll feet, on inscribed '20253', the other '20252' and 'E0978', later blocks, each stamped 'NOGARET A LYON' (2)

Pierre Nogaret elected maître in 1745 in Lyon.

Menuisier en sièges in Lyon Nogaret was apprenticed in Paris and then moved to Lyon in 1743. Elected maître menuisier in 1745, he opened his worshop in the rue St Romain and his reputation spread widly.
