Edo Period (Late 18th/early 19th Century)
Comprising a most unusual tatami do [folding cuirass] hinged at the left side and constructed with leather covered iron hexagonal plates, each with hishinui [cross knots] of red and white odoshi, those on the front lacquered alternately in black and gold, those on the back all black, conventional kusazuri of kiritsuke kozane black lacquered with some later gilding, chu sode of iron kiritsuke kozane black lacquered with later gilding, laced in kon ito kebiki odoshi, black lacquered iron shino gote on blue brocade, black lacquered iron iyo haidate and unusual suneate of one piece of black lacquered leather, three vertical gold stripes added later, with an armour box
