The body brushed with cream slip, washed with earth-red colour and covered overall with an almost transparent glaze, which shows grey where it is thickest, slight firing crack at the edge

Lot Essay

Raku teabowl stands are rare. The wear on the inner edge of the top rim is indicative of considerable use. The Raku seal on the foot is indistinct but could be that of Sonyu (1644-1716), the 5th generation.
