a french engraved gilt-brass and porcelain-mounted grande sonnerie striking and repeating carriage clock

The gorge case finely engraved with leafy scrolls and with profile portraits to each side of the base, with engraved panelling to bevelled oval viewing glass to top, the sides with royal blue porcelain panels with gilt-bordered and jewelled central reserves with scenes symbolising Spring and Autumn, one depicting a young girl with breast exposed and garlanded with flowers, with Cupid and doves to her side, the other a young girl again with breast exposed and holding a flaming torch in one hand and a scythe in the other, a sheaf of corn over her shoulder, with Cupid to the ground beside her, the dial with conforming borders and with Roman chapter ring with gilt hands, a bird flying to a cage suspended from a tree painted to the centre, the scene continuing below to include flowers, fruit and a watering can, with a windmill in the distance, silvered lever platform to bimetallic balance, strike/repeat on two gongs to backplate stamped 279, with three-position sonnerie adjustment lever to underside
