An unusual, probably late 18th-Century, silver but unhallmarked model of a single cylinder, jet condensing, rotative beam engine
with pedestal mounted cylinder approx 6in. bore x 1in. stroke centrally mounted valve chest supported by seperate steamways, the valve operated from underneath by pierced eccentric rod and rocking levers, simple parallel motion, the anchor links supported from a cylinder head mounted column, the beam running in trunnions supported on four round pyramidical columns, barrelled fluted connecting rod, crankshaft with square crank webs running in trunnions supported on triangulated columns, spoked flywheel and governor drive pulley (governor missing). The engine floor is mounted on a rectangular tank with four oval glass panels (two cracked) revealing rod driven air pump and condensor -- 6¾ x 6½in. (17.2 x 16.5cm.)
