An early 18th Century gilt brass universal equinoctial ring dial
stamped with the letters and date G.C.A. 1728+, the meridian ring with sliding bridge and suspension loop, engraved on one side with two quadrants, the numerals punched, the other side left unengraved, the pivoted equinoctial ring graduated in hours I - XII twice, the inner edge engraved with divisions of 15 minutes of time, the pivoted bridge with sliding pin-hole gnomon, engraved with a zodiac calendar scale -- 3.1/8in. (7.9cm.) diameter
