A solid hull model planked over in ivory. The ivory planks are held in place with brass pins. The whale strake is ebony which is also pinned in place. The decks of the model are also ivory, pinned in place with brass. All of the deck gear is ivory and includes, deck grating, gun carriages, head rails, pin and fife rails, deck rails, flagstaff, chain plates, catheads, decorative carvings around windows and gun ports, window frames, stern carvings. The figure head is of a lion and is also carved of ivory. The cannons, bell, block strops and tiller all from brass (some blackened). The masts, spars, tops and trees are also of ivory, turned and tapered with all details including blocks stops and jaws. The rigging is linen. The model is displayed in a mahogany and glass case with brass trim and a mirror inset below the hull with an ivory builders plaque, 21 x 8 x 18in. (54.6 x 21.6 x 46.3cm.)

The HMS Charlot was a ketch rigged Royal yacht built in Deptford in 1710. She was 57'7" long and was arrived with 6 long cannons. The model shows her as rebuilt in 1747.
