Of rectangular shape with hinged lid set on a flat, undecorated base, inlaid in mother-of-pearl on the lid with a rectangular reserve of confronted cranes, peaches and a central character medallion, inlaid on the front with two square reserves of plum and peaches and on each side with a stand of chrysanthemums, the back panel covered only by the black lacquer covering the other surfaces, mounted with metal fittings, hinges, lockplate and lock, lined on the interior with red paper
